Making your own salad dressing is EASY and FAST. These recipes can all be made in minutes. Seriously, it will take you longer to eat your salad than it takes to make these amazing dressings.
They are perfect for everyday meals and for family picnics all season.
Even the picky eats-only-ranch-dressing person in our family now enjoys all three of these dressing combinations.
Healthy ingredients, great flavors and so easy to make, here are my exact recipes:
Balsamic Vinaigrette*
2 Tablespoons of Balsamic vinegar
1 Tablespoon of Maple Syrup
½ Cup Olive Oil
A pinch of Salt
Optional: Clove of Garlic, minced
White Wine Vinaigrette*
2 Tablespoons of White Wine Vinegar
1 Tablespoon of Maple Syrup
1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard
½ Cup Olive Oil
A pinch of Salt
Optional: Clove of Garlic, minced
Creamy Herb Dressing (Better than Ranch!)
½ Cup Greek yogurt
2-4 Tablespoons Milk (for desired thickness)
1 Teaspoon Dried Dill Leaves
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
1 Tablespoon White Vinegar
½ Teaspoon Garlic Powder (or 1 clove minced fresh garlic)
¼ Teaspoon salt
Optional: swap out the dried dill for other dried herbs.
Fresh Herb Option: If you prefer to use fresh herbs, I recommend adding them to the salad, rather than the dressing, as fresh herbs can lose their nice texture when added directly to the dressing. Try adding herbs like Lettuce Leaf Basil to your salad!
*Vinaigrette preferences on tartness, sweetness and overall flavor vary widely. Adapt the amounts of vinegar, maple syrup and olive oil to suit your taste.
To make each dressing:
Combine the ingredients in a pint size mason jar
Secure a lid that seals tightly
Shake the jar vigorously until well combined
Use immediately or store in your refrigerator for several days
If the dressing separates (totally normal), just shake the jar a few times prior to use
We love to create salads of fresh lettuce, basil, chives, sliced golden beets or other in season veggies from our garden. We top the salad with cheddar cheese, hard boiled eggs and enjoy with toasted sourdough bread for an easy summer meal!
